Meanwhile, the details of a very brutal murder case, which is raging on every newspaper and TV news channel, is distracting people. Shraddha Walker of Palghar was living in a live-in with Aftab Poonawalla in Delhi. As quarrels escalated, Aftab killed Shraddha with horrific cruelty. After that, he cut his body into thirty-six pieces and disposed of them one by one.- Readers are getting fresh details of this case, so I am not repeating it. Instead, let's look at the details of a similar incident that happened ten years ago in Devbhoomi-Uttrakhand. Also, there are many similarities between these two incidents of inhuman cruelty.

Rajesh Satnam Gulati, a youth originally from Dehradun. Very bright in studies, this young man got a job in a reputed company as soon as he got his degree in software engineering. His company office was in Delhi. After he came to Delhi, he met a girl named Anupama Pradhan living in Netajinagar. After five years of friendship, both of them confessed their love for each other. Now both of them were eager to get married. But, at that time a stumbling block arose. Anupama's family did not approve of this relationship. Anupama's parents refused saying that you will not be happy with this young man. However, Anupama was firm on her decision and had immense faith in Rajesh, so Anupama left home without caring about her parents' feelings and married Rajesh on 10-2-1999. After marriage, this happy couple started their married life in Satyaniketan area of New Delhi.

As if Anupama's steps were extremely auspicious, the company sent Rajesh to America for a project at the end of the same year. Rajesh and Anupama reached California's Silicon Valley.

In June, 2006, there was a chance of joy in his happy life in America. Anupama gave birth to twins. The son was named Siddharth and the daughter was named Sonakshi.

In the same period, the project of the company was completed. Rajesh and Anupama came back to Delhi with both the children. Meanwhile, the opposition of Anupama's family against this marriage had disappeared. He adopted his daughter, son-in-law and niece-in-law with love.

Despite the good salary in Delhi, Rajesh had a dream in mind. Rajesh had a strong desire to leave the busy life of Delhi and go to his hometown Dehradun. He was trying for that. His hard work paid off and a company in Dehradun offered him a good salary. Rajesh accepted it and the family moved to Dehradun in November 2008. He rented a house in Prakashnagar in Cantt area of Dehradun.

A handsome young man, a beautiful wife, two healthy looking children who look dearly old, and a good salary as a software engineer - this was a family that would make anyone jealous. But, the inner reality was completely different. The fight between Anupama and Rajesh was not surprising. Amanya, during the heated discussion, when Rajesh's bow escaped, he would raise his hand on Anupama. These fights did not start only after coming back to India. Even in America, Rajesh used to harass Anupama and Anupama also lodged a domestic violence complaint there.

Anupama, who has a very gentle nature, used to protect both her children like life. Sometimes, when Rajesh's hand was raised too much, she would cry and call her mother. His parents told him that instead of suffering such torture, leave the man and come back to Delhi, your two loaves will not be too much for us. Those people were saying so but Anupama's life was stuck in her children. He was worried about Siddhant and Sonakshi. He thought that suppose the matter reached a divorce and the judge in the court gave custody of Siddhant-Sonakshi to Rajesh instead of himself? She wanted to stay in this house even after being beaten due to such a flutter in her mind.

Anupama was reeling from inside. While staying in Dehradun, she used to relax her mind by talking to her parents and younger brother living in Delhi almost every day.

The fight he used to have with Rajesh was not normal. When those people came back from America, the girl who was working in the office with Rajesh also came back. That Bengali girl lived in Kolkata. Anupama not only suspected, but was absolutely sure that Rajesh was having an affair with that girl and that's why he was not treating her well. Only the thought of the children's future was in her mind, so she used to bear the torture with a dumb mouth and when she lost her patience, there would be quarrels in the house.

From the third week of October, 2010, Anupama's parents in Delhi began to worry. The daughter who used to call almost every day did not call anymore. Anupama's brother Sujan Pradhan was using the computer. On top of that, Anupama used to email asking about everyone's happiness and also giving information about how Siddhanth-Sonakshi is having fun.

Despite the fact that Anupama's brother Sujan was receiving regular mails, the matter seemed serious, so mother, father and son discussed it in the Pradhan family. Sujan was also worried about her sister now. Sujan himself reached Dehradun on the night of 11-12-2010 without informing his siblings. After staying at the hotel for the night, he reached the house of Rajesh and Anupama in the morning of the next day on 12-12-2010. Rajesh was shocked to see it. Sujan asks where is Anupama? He repeatedly asked this question but Rajesh only replied that I don't know anything, your sister has gone somewhere without telling me!

Not only this, Rajesh did not even let Sujan enter the house. Now Sujan was shocked. He tried to enter the house but Rajesh forcibly restrained him and did not let him enter.

Distraught, Sujan went straight to the Kent Police Station and met the inspector there, complaining in detail that he felt something strange. The Inspector of Kent Police Station took a quick decision and sent four constables with Sujan. Even when the whole crowd reached Rajesh's house, Rajesh closed the door and forbade them to enter. However, he opened the door as the police shouted and threatened him. The police started searching the house. Anupama was nowhere in the whole house. After checking one cupboard after another, the police noticed the new Nakkor freezer. Why would such a small family keep such a big freezer in a cold region like Dehradun?

The police opened the freezer and the police were shocked to see the head of Anupama among the pieces of the body inside! He immediately called the inspector. Realizing the seriousness of the incident, the inspector, Senior Superintendent of Police G.S. informed Martolia. In twenty minutes they all reached the spot.

Police arrested Rajesh. Seeing Sujanmama crying, four-year-old Siddhant and Sonakshi were also crying. A forensic team and a videographer had also arrived. The police carefully took out the body pieces one by one. Everyone was stunned to see not five-ten, but seventeen pieces wrapped in a polythene bag!

Rajesh was healthy during police interrogation. He said that I could not bear that Anupama had a relationship with an American lover, she was constantly fighting; Therefore, I killed him so that the sanctity of the children would not be spoiled! Didn't mean to kill, but when I hit it, it collapsed. Her head hit the bed and she fainted! I was scared. Even in America, he filed a case of domestic violence against me, so I thought that he would come to his senses and file a complaint with the police? Panicking at the thought, I pressed a pillow over her face and she died!

The police staff was stunned. Rajesh was speaking from memory.

After doing this in a fit of rage, I thought, what will happen to these children if the police catch me? I used to explain to those four-year-old children that your mother has gone to Delhi. I dropped the dead body and took it to the bathroom so that they don't know anything. Went to the market and bought a big freezer. When he came home, he put the body in it. In two days, the body was completely frozen, so I felt that it would be easy to cut it into pieces. Went to Raja Road at eleven and bought a marble cutter. He brought it but its sound was terrible and its blade also broke.

At two o'clock he went to the shop again and bought a new blade for thirty rupees and figured out how to fit it. There was a very loud noise, so he again went to the market and brought an iron cutter. At night, he used to make the children sleep and cut the corpses. After going to the forest of Mussoorie and started disposing of those pieces one by one, you guys came at the same time!

This massacre came out on 12-12-2010. The police filed a charge sheet on 10-2-2011 by imposing section 302 for murder and section 201 for destruction of evidence.

During the remand, Rajesh admitted the truth that Anupama was only belligerent, there was no other fault in her. He didn't mess with anyone. He also admitted that after coming from America, he had also married the Calcutta sweetheart in private!

The case continued in court. The argument of Rajesh's lawyer was that there is no witness and hence the crime of murder does not occur. The argument of the opposite party was stronger that the body was found in the freezer of his house, so he did the murder! The judgment of this six-year-long case came on September 1, 2017. After the murder of the mother-wife of his two children, the hands of this software engineer did not tremble at all, but at the time of the verdict, his hands were shaking while standing in the court. When District Court Judge Vinod Kumar Ratudi sentenced him to life imprisonment, he wept profusely!

Under section 302 life imprisonment and a fine of rupees ten lakhs. Apart from this, three years sentence and a fine of five lakhs under Section 2011! Out of this total fine of fifteen lakhs, seventy thousand rupees was deposited in the state treasury and the remaining amount was deposited in the bank in the name of both the children, which they will receive when they become adults. Both the children are now growing up well in Mosal with their little ones and maternal grandparents.

Now when this Shraddha Walker and Aftab Poonawala episode happened, journalists met the then Senior Superintendent of Police of Dehradun GS Martolia and asked for his response by recalling the incident twelve years ago. This gentleman officer admitted that he had never seen a brutal killer like Rajesh in his entire career. A man who does such a heinous act with a dead body cannot be called a man! He also said that if every parent gives their daughter a good sense of good and bad, such incidents will not happen. Such an event does not happen suddenly. Its signals are received in advance. A girl should be conscious and think of a way only at the time of too much heated discussion and fight. Rajesh-Anupama or Aftab-Shraddha- is not the first case and unfortunately it will not be the last!
