Pa rabrahma Purushottam Narayana Lord Swaminarayana.
His life on this earth is a story of gentle humanity and infinite compassion. He appeared on the auspicious day of Chaitra Sud Navami in 1837 (April 3, 1781) in Chappaiya, a small village in northern India near Ayodhya.
From childhood he introduced his spiritual excellence. At the tender age of seven, he acquired full command over the Vedas, Upanishads, Gita-Bhagavat and Ramayana. At the tender age of ten, he took up arms with the Pandits in Kashi and established the Navya Vishtadvaita Mata.
At the age of 11, Sukumar renounced the world and traveled all over India for seven years and made Gujarat his field of action.
At the age of 21, he took spiritual ordination. He took great pains to inculcate the eternal values of Hindu culture in every individual. Five hundred of his Paramahansas sacrificed their lives for it.
His mesmerizing divine personality attracted the best of all walks of life and established his discipleship. People worshiped him as Parabrahma. He emphasized the spiritual equality of human beings by showing compassion towards Dalits, poor, backward communities and sinners. Through his devoted followers he made an overwhelming silent revolution in the society. He purified a society that was politically corrupt, socially fragmented and spiritually impoverished. He freed the society from vices, addictions, superstitions and vices by instilling spiritual values, love and non-violence. Erasing the distinctions of caste, creed, color and country, he accepted all and gave the title of final salvation.
He renounced the gross body at the young age of 49, giving up a magnificent six-spired temple, several sikshakendras and scriptures like the Vachanamrita-Sikshakpatri, but promised everyone that he would always reside on earth through the transcendental Guruparampara of Brahma form. Akhand Abhay promised to live on earth through his successor AksharaBrahma Gunatit Sant.
Lord Swaminarayan's fifth spiritual successor Brahmaswarup Param Pujya Pramukhswami Maharaj and his spiritual successor Manipal Mahant Swami Maharaj are the embodiment of the Dharmas enjoined by him. The flame lit by Lord Swaminarayan is the Satisfier, Nurturer and Protector.
