On the occasion of the centenary festival of Param Pujya Pramuchswami Maharaj, who revived the Bhasya tradition and made a historic and immense contribution to Indian Vedanta philosophy, a special international conference on 'Akshara Purushottam Darshan in Vedic Tradition' was organized.
The conference was organized as a joint initiative of BAPS Swaminarayan Research Institute, Delhi, Central Sanskrit University, Delhi, Sri Somnath Sanskrit University, Veraval and Arsh Research Center (AARSH), Gandhinagar. The conference provided a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of Sri Akshar-Purushottam Darshan and explored the philosophical, social, cultural, historical and literary aspects of this Darshan. Research papers were presented by scholars on the specific tenets of Sri Akshar-Purushottam darshan, its comparison with other darshans and how this darshan is embodied in practice through rituals, traditions, teachings and values. In his welcome address, Mahamahopadhyay Pujya Bhadreshdas Swami welcomed the principals of more than 20 Sanskrit universities, 90 professors and more than 1 thousand students in today's convention. He said, 'These scholars are adept in the subjects of ancient Indian philosophy. You have arrived in the Sangoi of Aksharpurushottam darshan, I welcome you all Bhavbhi.' Akshar Purushottam Darshan created by Bhadreshdas Swami has been accepted by the best scholars around the world. A scholar is one who has no discrimination in speech, thought and conduct. Pramukhswami Maharaj was egalitarian and generous towards diversity. I pray at his feet that qualities like his should come to me.' 'This centenary festival is most appropriate to pay homage to Pramukhswami Maharaj who revived the Sanskrit language. The western world has to look to scriptures like Bhagavad Gita to resolve the issues. The Sanskrit language has the potential to represent all the people of the world, to be the voice of all.'
