Bug in Truecolor, automatically gets users registered with UPI

New Delhi, 31 July 2019, Wednesday

A problem has been caused by a bug in the mobile directory app Truecolor. This bug has affected its UPI based digital payment feature. This bug causes automatic registration of TruColor users' app UPI based payment feature across the country.

The app manually sent an encrypted message to the bank from users for registration of ICICI Bank's UPI service. Users are not even aware of this. Messages were sent to the bank from users who did not have an account at this bank.

There are an estimated 100 million active users of Truecolor in India. TrueColor has also apologized to users after the incident, saying that a new version of this app has been removed due to a bug. Users affected by this bug will be updated shortly. Users can also cancel registration if they wish. However, the National Payment Corporation, which allowed the app to use UPI, has said that the bug will not affect users' bank accounts. UPI facilitates money transfer at any bank account in the country at any time.

According to NPCI, this is a mistake in which users did not agree. So with them the customer will not be able to make any transaction with UPI. For this, the user has to set UPI PIN along with OTP and debit card details. This is what the CEO of NPCI said.
