Glaciers are melting faster than predicted: Survey

Washington, July 31, 2019, Wednesday

According to a recent study, ocean glaciers are melting faster than predicted. This study can improve the ways of predicting additional sea-level rise in seawater. This conclusion is based on a new method developed by the researchers. It is the first time that sea glaciers have been estimated to melt. It also has a valley glacier that flows into the sea.

According to oceanographer Rebecca Jackson at Rutgers University in America, sea glaciers are moving in Greenland, Alaska, Antarctica and beyond, causing sea level rise globally. This study also shows that the prevailing theory about glacier melting has been shown to be lower than its actual melting rate. Scientists have studied the melting speed of the ocean glacier Laconte in Alaska from 2016 to 2018.

It is worth mentioning that one study said that during the drought, the glacier eliminates water scarcity. During glacier droughts some of Asia's rivers provide water to the valleys. In this way it caters to the basic needs of about 22.10 million people at a time when water is scarce. This study can be helpful socially and economically in areas where there is a suspicion of water problems. Most glaciers are melting due to climate change.
