The way the video is viewed is changing due to the speed of the Internet. 55% of people in the country watch TV shows, movies, sports and other content over the top ie Hotstar, Amazon Prime, Netflix. While 41% of people use DTS platform, Tata Sky, Dish TV to watch content. A survey was recently conducted to find out.
OTT is an app or system that facilitates the viewing of TV and movies via cable or satellite provider internet. Hotstar, Amazon Prime, Netflix, Woot, G5, Sony Live as OTT platforms in India. According to the survey, the hottest star is seen in India at present.
The challenge for DTS operators is similar to the rapidly growing OTT platform. These platforms have become popular due to the increasing internet access, net speed and increasing number of smartphones. With mobile, people can watch videos anywhere. The survey was conducted from June through August. It had 7500 users.
According to the survey, 85% of people have used the OTT platform at least once in the last 6 months. 70% of people watch videos using mobile. 31 percent of people watch original and platform exclusive content, 30 percent watch sports, 19 percent watch a movie and 18 percent watch a show. According to the report, 45 percent of the people watch comedy, 23 percent of the action and 19 percent of the drama content.
The OTT market in India will reach Rs 3.60 lakh crore by 2023. According to another report, the market was worth 35 thousand crore in 2018. With the rise of internet and smartphone currency, the market is growing at 15% in India.
