New Delhi, 26 August 2019, Monday

Women use sanitary pads during menstruation. This pad can be used only once and it is also dangerous to the environment. But now a sanitary pad has been developed that will not harm the environment. Two students from IIT Delhi have developed a technique for making sanitary pads out of banana fiber.

The pad can be washed and used 122 times with the help of this technique. The special thing is that using it frequently does not cause any kind of infection. Fourth-year students Archet Agrawal and Hari Sahrawat from BITech in IIT Delhi have welcomed this pad. These students created this pad as a start up app. He created a startup company called Samphe.

According to him, polyester peeling, banana fiber and cotton polyurethane laminate have been used to make this four-layer pad. He made these pads using the banana part thrown away and the fibers found in it. He dried the fiber into a machine and then used polyester peeling over the fiber. This is a type of cloth that dries out the damp.

Cotton polyurethane laminate has been used to prevent leakage. Which is used as a chemical in the hospital. It has a sanitary pad cover. This pad will also be available online and at general stores. One packet will have 2 pads which will be available for Rs 199 That is, one pad will cost Rs 100. Women can use this pad again after washing. This means that the Rs 200 pad will last for 2 years.
