New Delhi, 22 October 2019, Tuesday

Dhanvantari is worshiped on Dhanteras day. He is also said to be the Principal of Ayurveda. They are the physicians of the gods. Dhanvantari is also believed to be the brother of Lord Lakshmi. In addition, there is a tradition of buying silverware on the eve. One of the fourteen gems that came out of the sea when the sea was churned is also Dhanvantari.

During the churning of the sea, 13 jewels came against Dhanvantari as the 14th jewel on the thirteenth day of the month of Karatak. They appeared with nectar buds. Dhanvantari revealed that the battle for nectar between gods and demons had begun. But Lord Vishnu took the form of Mohi and achieved the nectar bud.

Why is Dhanvantari worship?

Dhanwantari nectar, meaning the gift of life, appeared. Even Ayurveda scholars consider him a god of health. Thus, Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth and prosperity but Dhanvantari is also worshiped on the day of Dhanteras for receiving her grace and blessing of good health.

The practice of buying utensils or silver

On the thirteenth day, Lord Dhanwantari appeared with a fierce cry. So there is a tradition of buying pots or silverware on this date. It is said that the number of purchases you make on a daily basis is 13 times higher.

In addition silver is a symbol of the moon, it provides coolness. It is also healthy. The influence of the moon brings a sense of satisfaction to the mind and there is no wealth in it. So on this day the silver khadari is kept in the house.
