The number of HIV-infected people is increasing in the eastern state of Mizoram, with a population of 1 million. According to the information received, HIV has taken the burden of 6.5% of the people in this state. In Manipur, the rate is 8.5 and in Nagaland it is 5.7 percent. With this, AIDS has become the largest state with a high number of patients. In comparison, the rate of people with HIV in India is 5.7%.
Western lifestyle has a huge impact on the youth of Mizoram. Mizoram, once proud of being the more educated state in the eastern states, is facing a new problem. An integrated counseling and testing center has been set up to prevent the spread of AIDS in Mizoram, which touches the borders of Bangladesh and Myanmar. There are 3 to 4 HIV cases registered at this testing center daily. Three such testing centers have been set up all over the state. The first case was registered in Mizoram when HIV was lifted all over the country. There are currently a total of 5 patients, while more than 4 people have died so far due to this illness.
Generally, 8% of HIV cases are caused by unprotected sex, but in Mizoram the proportion is 8% while in 8.4% of cases, ingestion of drug is administered in the body during treatment. In 5% of cases, children received from parents. About 8 percent of HIV-positive patients are in the age group of 3 to 6 years.
The rate of HIV prevalence in Mizoram was 6.4 in the 1-2 years, which was reduced to a short period of 5.6 percent. Then the number of HIV-infected people increased to 8 percent in 1-3. As of March 1, the figure has risen to 5.7 percent, instead of 5.5 percent. Mizoram is the only state in India where HIV numbers are rising fast. Western lifestyle has a huge impact on the youth of Mizoram.
