Large and well-known tech companies often buy into a company developing new technologies, and sometimes we get the gift of a service that takes a huge leap forward. YouTube and Google Maps, likewise, are a company-wide purchase service.
In this regard, a startup purchased by a Facebook company right now is worth noting. This London-based startup, called Scape Technologies, can know our location using computer vision technology. Thus, the location of our location on the map is determined using GPS satellites.
In addition, in the A-GPS system, our location can be determined using satellite data as well as cellphone company tower. The Facebook-bought startup has developed a technology in which a visual positioning service is possible without the help of a satellite.
Going forward, Facebook will be able to know our location more precisely when we check-in or upload photo-videos using this technology.
In the days to come, technology companies are moving in the direction of show us ads in stores around where we are, this is made more evident by the purchase of Facebook.
