If you've been using Microsoft Office programs a lot, then last week we got some news for you. Microsoft has launched a unified app for its Office programs for Android and iOS. Thus its beta version was launched a long time ago, now it can be downloaded directly from the Play Store.
Think so much about understanding why this app works for you - you worked on a file in Word or Excel in your PC, mailed it to that other person or client, then you went out of the office and got a call from the person who sent it. A few changes have to be made, so please do it right away! Now look at the fun. The whole world is accustomed to working in various Microsoft Office programs on PCs or laptops, but on their smartphones - mostly Android - uses Google Drive!
If you are also one of those many people, then you can open the mail you send to Gmail on your own smartphone, open the attachments in Google Drive, make any changes you want and send the new file to that person.
But you may have noticed that this is a very daunting task. That's why the whole world is slowly turning to cloud computing. Install the Docs, Sheets and Slides app in the phone along with Google Drive, so the same program as Microsoft's three main programs will keep us going forever. You can also open and edit files saved in Drive on any PC, if you want, by sharing the same file with other people, and you can work with more than one people at a time.
Thus, Microsoft's monopoly on office programs is breaking down due to Google Drive. Of course, to combat Google, Microsoft has launched online office programs called OneDrive and Office 7, just like Google Drive.
Microsoft is now launching a new app for smartphones called 'Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint & More' to help Google face the challenge.
This app can be used on both iOS and Android devices.
As you may know, Microsoft has previously provided separate apps for Word, Excel and PowerPoint, but in this new app, it has provided a set of three apps and many more. In the case of the Google Drive app, we also have to install a separate app such as Docs, Sheets or Slides to edit the various files after it is stored.
The exciting features that Microsoft is adding to the brand new versions of its Office programs can be used in this app. For example, you can photograph any typed text in one click, turn it into an editable word file!
In testing for this article, this app in English text gives better results than Google, but in Gujarati text the app gets messed up (Google also offers this feature in Gujarati or other languages - we have to make some headway!). Similarly in Excel, photographing any typed table can be turned into an editable Excel table (of course, this still takes a lot of effort). PDFs can also be created from different documents in the app.
In sum, Microsoft's app is definitely promising!
