'I was having a birthday party with a group of girls and youths, including a Chinese friend. There was also a group of Asians. One of them was starting to get annoyed at me. "I am Indian in a group of people of many ethnicities, and I tried to push him away," said Solanka.

The young man was then punched and knocked unconscious. After being beaten, the Asian young man went out with his companions overnight. His friends never tried to stop the assailant's youth.
