We celebrate the set of five festivals from The Nateras to Bhaibeej as Dipotsavi. Diwali is the festival of twilight of two years. Diwali is the festival of farewell to the past year and New Year's reception.
Knowing that the end of Lord Mahavira, the time of Nirvana was near, many kings of the country gathered at the border of Pavapuri town with their cavalry on the eve of Teras. At the time of Gorj, cows were coming back from grazing. Seeing a large number of people in front, the cows became frightened and started running away, so that day is also called 'Dhanteras'.
In Indian culture, cow is considered as mother and from this day the tradition of worshiping cow herd started.
We call it Dhanteras because of the worship of Dhan-Lakshmi, but the glorious beings of that time made Teras 'Dhanya Teras' in their abode in the samvasarana of Tirthankara.
Aso Vad Chaudhash is called 'Kali Chaudhash' in reference to worldly festivals. The beneficent use of the knowledge gained through night sadhana will illuminate the light of humanity even on a dark night.
The region south of Bhutan to Assam was known as Pragjyotish Kshetra. Here an evil king named Narakasur was torturing the people. He imprisoned sixteen thousand princesses in the palace. Satyabhama requested Lord Krishna to co-operate in this emancipation campaign. In front of Satyabhama in the chariot, behind Lord Krishna, a battle took place. Narakasur was destroyed on Chaturdashi day. Hence this day is also known as Narak Chaturdashi. On this day Shramana Lord Mahavira started the final discourse series till sixteen o'clock. Hence this day is also known as 'Roop Chaturdashi'. If we assimilate the divine message of God these days; The darkness of the distance will be mentioned, the blackness of falsehood will go away and the form of symmetry will appear like a four-faced form.
Lord Mahavira's Nirvana took place on the last morning of Diwali night. Conquering the kashayas and karmas on his own soul, the Atmajyoti of the Lord vanished into the supreme light. The Tirthankara Lord considers victory over himself as complete victory. As the lamp of his bodily consciousness merged into the flame of cosmic consciousness due to the salvation of the Lord, the Ganarajas of eighteen countries lit the lamp of matter in the city of Pavapuri and Diwali was celebrated. Baliraja was an ideal king. Violence, drunkenness, adultery, theft, betrayal were not in his state. In the form of Batuk Brahmin, Lord Krishna asked for three and a half steps of earth. The king offered everything to the huge form of Vamanamurti Bhagwan. Three day and night festivals were organized by Vishnu in his holy memory. That festival is known as Diwali.
On Diwali, the merchants commemorate Kuberji's renunciation with Chopda Pujan and his generosity with Dhanna Shalibhadraji Riddhi and work for the attainment of just splendor.
This Pratipada (unit) is also celebrated as Gautam Pratipada in the memory of Lord Mahavira's disciple lighting the lamp of pure knowledge and making this festival the Jyotiparva of self-enlightenment in the New Year. In the new year, it is meaningful to donate food not only to God (Nivedya) but also to Daridranarayan. The Feast of Brothers and Sisters symbolizes that brotherly love is a pure relationship of the world.
