Changed political climate in America and the Paris climate agreement

The political climate in the United States has changed with the defeat of populist President Donald Trump's Democratic candidate Joseph Biden in the US presidential election. In a US presidential democracy, winning an election required about 50 electoral votes, of which Biden received nine and Trump 211 electoral votes. While the vote count was still going on, Biden overcame a majority by winning the state of Pennsylvania. Donald Trump is believed to have been pushed to the brink of defeat by the post-Covid-12 epidemic in the United States. A change of government in a superpower like the United States has a direct or indirect effect on the world.

The US Constitution gives the president vast decision-making power in national and international affairs. The White House, the center of economic and political power in the world, has the key to many policies and decisions. Donald Trump made many fundamental decisions during his administration by adopting the America First policy. In his 2014 election campaign, Trump said the Paris Agreement on Climate Change was against US interests and promised to step down if he became president.

On December 11, 2015, a climate agreement was reached between the governments of the world in Paris, France. The aim was to set a goal of voluntarily reducing carbon emissions by coming to a stage in the face of rising global temperatures and climate change. Climate change-induced floods, droughts, and hurricanes are displacing millions of people, and the 12 countries responsible for 80 percent of global carbon emissions have set their own targets. It also included a long-term plan to reduce the average temperature by 1.5 degrees Celsius. By signing the Paris Agreement in April 2015, India has pledged to reduce carbon emissions by 5 to 6 per cent by 2020 and reduce carbon imbalances through tree planting.

New Zealand has passed a zero carbon bill and decided not to produce any type of greenhouse other than methane by 2020. Some countries, such as Japan, want to reduce their carbon emissions to zero by 2020. Earlier in the Kyoto Protocol, targets were set for developed countries to reduce emissions, but in the Paris Agreement, all developed, developing and underdeveloped countries voluntarily emphasized on the issue of climate change. Under the 2015 Paris Agreement, the United States was to reduce its 2006 carbon emissions by 6 to 7 percent by 203.

Instead, it was shocking for environmentalists that a superpower like the United States withdrew from an agreement reached on a serious issue such as protecting the earth from the negative effects of climate change. Trump, like a businessman, is not bound to incur extravagant expenses by accounting for himself. The biggest defeat in the Climate Change Agreement was the mockery of climate change science, instead of the United States taking the lead in producing the world's largest greenhouse gas.

Earlier, former President Barack Obama pledged હેઠળ 3 billion to the Climate Change Fund, designed to help poor countries cope with climate change under the Paris Climate Agreement. Trump's decision to pull out of the deal caused a great deal of ideological and investment damage to the climate issue. However, US allies continued to meet the goals of the climate agreement. Leading nations, including Britain, Italy, France, Japan and South Korea, New Zealand, have pledged to reduce their carbon emissions to zero by 2020. Yet America's attitude has led to sluggishness in dealing with climate change in many parts of the world.

The United States can make a significant contribution to a sensitive issue like climate change, but as long as Trump is in power, environmentalists have shrunk. If Trump had won the US general election instead of Biden, there would be no discussion on the Paris Climate Agreement right now, but Biden's arrival has created a climate in which the United States joins the Paris Climate Agreement. Biden has also given his assessment in his election campaign, which has given new hope to international organizations working in the field of climate change.

Everyone believes that on issues like climate change, America will no longer pursue a confrontation but a constructive path. The bidder said in a tweet that he would return to the agreement after three days. The bid also aims to spend ૨ 3 trillion a year on coal, oil and gas and eliminate fossil fuels and emissions from electricity generation by 203.

It has also pledged to keep the US economy carbon neutral. Biden once mentioned in his election campaign that his allies (Trump) had gone against this, but that he would not only bring the US back into the Paris Agreement but also encourage every country to make a climate commitment. Thus, Biden's views on climate change differ from those of his predecessor, Trump.

America's allies are eager to rejoin the Paris Agreement in the changed political situation. EU countries believe that the United States must not only join the Paris Agreement, but also take concrete steps to offset the five-year loss.

However in the Corona period many issues in the world have been pushed back including issues of climate change. With the Corona transition in the United States approaching 10 million, it will not be easy for Biden to get America back on track for climate change. Biden's position in the US Congress must be strong, not only because Trump has lost, but also because he has to deal with Trumpism in politics.
