Many organizations are opposing the proposed law as the central government is to enact a law banning the sale of iodized salt in India from now on. Given the economic aspect of baking iodized salt, they may be opposed to the law. But no one has the right to protest without knowing the importance of iodine in human health.
What we call angina is caused by iodine deficiency. But to understand this, it is necessary to explain the internal structure of the human throat and the functions of the thyroid gland in it. This gland is located between the throat and the trachea. It is shaped like a butterfly and weighs no more than twenty grams. This gland is a storehouse of energy. It determines the amount of vitality of the body. The hormone secreted by the thyroid for this purpose is called thyroxine. But iodine is a raw material needed to make thyroxine. This means that when iodine deficiency occurs, there is also a shortage of thyroxine. When this happens, the size of the gland naturally increases. This is a natural process. This gland, which is many times larger than its original size, tries to absorb more iodine. This problem is exacerbated if water and salt do not contain the required amount of iodine. Malnutrition is also one of the reasons why the problem of angina is more prevalent among the hill tribes in India.
Uneducated and ignorant people, due to lack of knowledge, consider angina to be hereditary and instead of checking the medicine, they make eyebrows grow. That is why it is time to get rid of the problem. If a pregnant woman has angina, her baby is likely to be born deaf or dumb. If an adult suffers from angina, his physical and mental development is hampered. Not only that, this complex disease also spreads its rage on the liver, heart, muscles and kidneys. The patient becomes tight and weak, has frequent panic attacks, his skin becomes dry and he always complains of constipation. Its ability to withstand extreme cold or heat is also limited.
Ayurveda has divided angina into three types.
1. Hair loss angina: This type of disease causes a needle-like pain. Black veins appear on the throat. The patient's palate and throat become dry and the taste changes.
. Coughing angina: Angina occurs many times when it matures and it feels cold to the touch. Skin color does not change. The palate and throat are always full of phlegm.
. Obese angina: These angina are viscous, loose, yellow and smelly. Its roots are small but the growth rate is very fast. It keeps the patient's mouth hydrated. When the patient says something, it is as if the sound is coming from deep in the throat.
