Namasmaran in Shravan Mass - Shravan Bhakti has unparalleled glory ...

In the scriptures of Hinduism, it has been stated that human birth is made meaningful by worshiping God. Chaturmas is considered the best of the twelve months for devotion to God. Because in Chaturmas there are many festivals of each sect. All human beings become engrossed in satsang and devotion. Shravanmas is also considered the best in this Chaturmas. Shravan Mass is considered to be a very important holy and meaningful month. During this Shravan Mass, the temples resound with Dhun-Bhajan-Katha-Kirtan, Mantrajap.

Moksha is achieved only by remembering the name of God in Kali Yuga. That is why the scribes say,

As if inadvertently touching a fire, it burns. Similarly, if the name of God is taken unknowingly, only sin burns. As water quenches fire. As the sun avoids darkness, in the name of Shri Hari, only sin is destroyed.

As water is powerful to quench fire. The sunrise is powerful to avoid darkness. In the same way, the name of only one God is meaningful to avoid the sin of sinful souls. The devotee utters the name of God. He cannot be overcome by the guilt of work, anger, greed, infatuation, lust, jealousy etc. even in Kalikal. Therefore mantra chanting must be done in Shravanmas.

Mahatmya is also described in our scriptures as going to the temple of God in the month of Shravan. Our scriptures say that by going to the temple of God, one gets the fruit of Ashwamegh Yajna step by step. Therefore one should always have darshan of God. Going to the temple for darshan instills and promotes the sacrament in a person. Finds guidance on how to practice Dharma, Gyan, Vairagya, and Bhakti.

Just as mantra japa and darshan are important, so is listening to the story of God in Shravanmas.

In our scriptures, it is stated that we go to the temple of God every evening to listen to stories. Emphasizing on doing Shravan Bhakti, Tulsidasji has said in Ramayana that,

The person who has not heard the story of God with his ears, his ears are equal to the rate at which the serpent lives. Even people like Shukradevji, Sankadiko and Vyasji often say that those who have given up narrative interest and taken interest in other things have been deprived of the path of happiness.

Shri Swaminarayan Bhagwan himself has said in the 12th Vachanamurti of the Kariyani chapter that the only way to make the mind non-toxic and non-toxic is to become a believer and listen to Bhagavad-gita with faith.
