St. Mary's Island is a well known island in Karnataka. Among the four islands, there are a number of black stone pillars like the wonder created by Kurdat on Coconut Island. On a hexagonal shaped island 200 meters long and 100 meters wide, these pillars are made of mantle created by the volcanic process millions of years ago. This place is called Geo Tourism.
Is. Vasco da Gama, a Portuguese traveler in the 19th century, landed on the island before entering India and renamed the island St. Mary. The design of the island's regular, vertical columns with five, six or seven sides looks like a wonder. The largest pillar is 40 feet high. These are made of igneous rock.
There has been a lot of scientific research on this island. Is an important research site for geologists. The island is connected to Malpi port in Karnataka. There is also a mythical temple called Vadabhandeshwar Temple.
