Amitabh Bachchan celebrated his 9th birthday on October 11. Every year, the hero of Hindi films is greeted on his birthday from all over the world. We sometimes wonder if Bachchan Saheb would also be wishing his friends, relatives, fellow artists and dignitaries a happy birthday. Surprising to know that even at such a young age, the actor who is engrossed in work is absolutely certain in this matter. They rarely miss a birthday wish to friends. Singer Sudesh Bhosle testifies, "Since Amitji found out from somewhere 10 years ago that my birthday falls on July 1, one minute at twelve o'clock on the night before my birthday, I get a message wishing him a happy birthday." To date, this has not changed. '
The relationship between Amitabh Bachchan and Sudesh Bhosle is almost four decades old. Amitabh is known for his hoarse voice. Sometimes his voice is enough to make an appearance in a film. Bachchan's mimicry has been done by many artists, but the credit for singing in a voice like Adal M goes to one artist and that is Sudesh Bhosle. Not only the producers-directors, Amitji himself also believes that this is the only singer who can sing in a voice like mine. It has often happened that a film song has been recorded in the actor's voice, but he was not satisfied with it and he has re-recorded the song in Bhosle's voice.
Sudesh Bhosle recalls a similar case where the voices of Amitji and Daler Mehndi were recorded before the very popular song 'Na Na Na Nare' from the film 'Mrityudata'. Everyone loved the song, but Amitji insisted to the producer to re-record the song in Sudesh Bhosle's voice and that's what happened.
Coincidentally, most artists are aware of the natural rewards they receive. The same thing happened with Sudesh Bhosle. It is about the time when he was studying in 11th standard in the school. They went to school the next day after watching Amitabh's superhit film at night. He was so impressed with Amitji's acting and voice in the film that the dialogues of the film were playing in his mind.
While standing in the school corridor with friends in the recesses, who knows why Ekishwas uttered a dialogue of Mukander ka Sikandar in Amitabh's voice, 'Zohra, Zohra, open the door, I Sikandar'. Friends and we were amazed. Throughout school he became known for his Bachchan-like voice. Thus, what started in a joking mood with friends soon took him to stage shows.
'I was a member of a popular orchestra group called Melody-Makers. We had 5-20 shows a month in the presence of top artists like Jitendra, Shatrughan Sinha, Amjad Khan and Sridevi. In the show, I have Sunil Dutt, Vinod Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Asrani, Ajit and musician S. D. Even mimicking Burman. Stand-up comedians became very popular in those days. He mimicked Dilip Kumar, Ashok Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan, but could not dare to imitate Bachchanji's voice. Once people found out that my voice is 100 per cent similar to mine, then in the show, I would get their colors and Mere Angan would be asked to sing songs like me, 'says Sudesh Bhosle, chewing on his memoirs.
Bappi Lahiri, Kalyanji-Anandji and R. D. Well known musicians like Burman like to listen to Amitabh's songs on Sudesh's vocals, but Bidu Laxmikant-Pyarelal was quick to give him a break as a playback singer. He sang Shashi Kapoor's home production film Ajuba Bay Geet 'Ya Ali Ya Ali' and 'Aarey, Tajjub Hai' with Sudesh. For the first time in Hindi films, a singer sang a song in the voice of an actor.
Amitji specially invited me to Film City and congratulated me. A fun occasion happened during the recording of the song 'Aare Tajjub Hai' at Mehboob Studios. Rishi Kapoor was sitting outside while the recording was playing. They were under the illusion that Amitji was recording the song so they sat outside to meet him. Someone then told him that the song was being recorded in the voice of Sudesh Bhosle, Amitji was not present inside. Rishiji was very surprised to hear that. They were not ready to believe that any artist could sing in the voice of Abehub Bachchan, 'says Bhosle describing the interesting occasion.
It has been 40 years since the release of Amitabh Bachchan's film 'Hum', but even today Sudesh enters the stage for a show like Bhosle and soon the shouts of 'Jumma Chumma De De Chumma' can be heard from the audience. The singer has to sing this song at least once in each of his shows. When Laxmikant-Pyarelal chose Bhosle for the song, he was still a newcomer to the industry. At 9 in the morning, he started recording the song with Kavita Krishnamurthy, but Amitabh himself was present at the recording and his eyes were constantly on Bhosle so he got so nervous that he couldn't record for hours so Laxmikant came up with an idea. He first asked Sudesh Bhosle to sing in his voice and then in Amitji's voice. He removed Bhosle's voice from the recording and retained Amitabh's voice. Thus, the recording of Jumma Chumma, which started at 8 am, ended at 2 am.
