Today the darkness seemed fragrant,
Aaj saurabh bhari raat saari;
Aaj aa shaalni manjari zari zari,
Pamrati Pathari De Pathari.
Bringing the odor from today
Divya ko sindhuni lahari lahari;
From the sky to the stars today
What a fragrance!
Where, which flower blossomed like that, Jehna
Is the intoxication heavy today?
Cow's throat, strings
Where is Sur Mango Fountain?
The heart was in turmoil
What is deer, he got this tune?
The mind that imagines eternal bliss,
Has it come to Surabhi-flood?
- Prahlad Parekh
We tend to associate darkness, night, blackness, etc. with a kind of negativity. Disappointment is expressed through a number of terms, such as the darkness of sadness, the awfulness of the dark night, the saw of darkness, the lines of darkness. It consumes darkness. In order to express the infinite blackness of the mind, sometimes the example of darkness is given, sometimes it is also called the dark valley. In the darkness there is fear, there is fear, there is peace and loneliness. Such symbols make darkness more negative. Then one of the important poets of Gandhi era sees darkness in a slightly different way. He says, 'Today the darkness seemed fragrant.'
If a person who sees the constant darkness in a negative way reads such a line for the first time, he will be immediately amazed, there are no two opinions in it. Even the beliefs about the darkness in his mind are shattered. Prahlad Parekh said that darkness is fragrant, but darkness is not something to be sniffed, it can only be felt and seen with the eye. But that is the wonder of the poet. Here the poet has mastered the senses. Prahlad Parekh made the blackness of darkness beautiful.
Poet Rajendra Shukla also introduced darkness in a strange way, he wrote, 'A camel came full of darkness ...' Many also wonder how darkness can come by filling a camel? Manilal Desai was known as the poet of darkness, many symbols of darkness were seen in his poetry. Like, 'The egg of darkness has been broken'. In the poem titled 'Andharu', he has endowed the darkness with various adjectives, 'Dark yellow is not the sky in Bal, dark lol is a red soft flower ...' He also called darkness a soft flower. But the poet who first introduced this fragrance of darkness in Gujarati was Prahlad Parekh. In this way Prahlad Parekh became different from his contemporaries. What the poet Vinod Joshi has to say about him is quite apt. ' They have been able to recover from this. '
Rabindranath Tagore's Soundaryamadhi poetry has a special influence on Prahlad Parekh. It is in nature that this poet sees heaven. In his poetry, nature, love and nature have flourished in sixteen arts. As instinctively as the buds of a flower grow on a stalk, so instinctively nature blooms in his poetry. Born on 18th October 1918 in Bhavnagar, this poet has earned his place in Gujarati language by giving only two collections of poetry. There is a collection, 'Out the window' and another, 'Sarvani'. He has poetically summed up the scenes he saw outside the window and what his heart felt. Although his poems are few in number, they are very important in terms of quality. He also tried his hand at children's stories, translations and prose. But in poetry they were able to flourish. Today is the anniversary of this poet who made darkness fragrant. He passed away on January 6, 2013. Millions of tributes to him on his death anniversary.
Let's log out of a beautiful composition by Rajendra Shukla about darkness.

The camel came full of rays.
Ray came dark after filling this text.
An eye for someone,
Faint for some;
We landed on that threshold and it got dark.
We were in the courtyard when it got dark.
Ana adya abhane chhod;
Eva adya abhane kode -
We met a handful, Ray, it was dark.
We got up in the morning, Ray, it was getting dark.
- Rajendra Shukal
